Flamenco Show!

When one first things of Spain, they usually think of bull fighting and Flamenco dancing. When I first got accepted to study abroad in the amazing city of Salamanca, I knew that I wanted to see a Flamenco show. After finding out about a bunch of Flamenco shows and finding one that worked for everyone (easier said than done!) and also sounded good, we bought our tickets, ate dinner a little earlier than normal (if 8:30 can be considered early for dinner!), and then headed over to the "Palacio de Congresos." Even though the show started at 10, we got there really early to get good seats...I'm glad we did because the place was packed by the time the show started! Luckly, we got seats in the third row!

Overall, I enjoyed the show a lot...there were four dancers (one only danced once but the rest of the time she clapped to the beat of the music), a singer, a guitar player, and a drummer. The music was very different from what I expected, but it was still really good and worked well with the dancing!

There were many different dances through out the show that each lasted about 10 minutes! There was one dance during which the dancer had a scarf:

One were the dancers had fans:

There were also some very traitional and simple (yet beautiful) dances:

And there was also some at the end where all the dancers were participating:

I am very glad that I went and it was a very memorable evening! I'm glad I got to experience something that is so important to the Spanish culture. And I am leaving you with a short video of the amazing show:

  1. It's great you got to see a show this summer. Hopefully, you will be able to attend many more in the years to come!
